Lacoste’s Spring/Summer 2014 Menswear Collection is pretty in pink, navy blue, white, and deep green for the fella who doesn’t mind attracting the preppy cheerleader’s attention. The French apparel line certainly knows how to seamlessly infuse beauty and functionality into its minimalistic concept, having created a collection comprised of buttonless blazers, color-blocked collared shirts with matching pants, and pastel-tinged, all-over-white ensembles. Noticeable updates to the brand’s tailoring include cuts above the ankle and a boxier shape around the torso that conjures up a static, 1970s look (à la The Brady Bunch), while the clever use of piping in a stand-out hue on some pieces plays a visual trick on the viewer, thus alluding to elements that are normally present but not noticed– that is, until they are absent.
